What is the Lumi Foundation?
The Lumi Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting transparency and ethical practices in the development and use of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on consumer protection in the context of AI-generated content.
What is the Lumi Foundation's mission?
Our mission is to guide the ethical development and implementation of machine intelligence, ensuring that it remains a tool for human empowerment and creativity. We work to achieve this through the development of open standards, conducting research, and providing funding to initiatives that align with our goals.
How can I contact the Lumi Foundation?
You can reach us through our contact page, where you’ll find various ways to get in touch, including email addresses for general inquiries, media inquiries, sponsorship opportunities, and more.
What is RAIC?
RAIC stands for Regulation of Artificial Intelligence Creativity. It’s an open standard developed by the Lumi Foundation to classify creative works based on the level of human and AI involvement in their creation.
What are the different RAIC classes?

The RAIC standard defines the following classes:

  • Class A: Entirely human-created, with no AI involvement in creatively significant elements.
  • Class B: Primarily human-created, with AI assistance used under direct human guidance for specific creative elements.
  • Class U: A balanced collaboration between humans and AI, where humans make key creative decisions.
  • Class Y: Primarily AI-driven, with humans setting high-level goals and providing oversight.
  • Class Z: Almost entirely AI-generated, with minimal human input limited to initial prompts and curation.
  • Class F: A special designation for works that misrepresent their creative process or engage in deceptive practices related to RAIC certification.
How does RAIC benefit consumers?
RAIC provides consumers with greater transparency about the origin of creative works, enabling them to make more informed decisions about the content they consume and support.
How can I verify if a work is RAIC certified?
You can verify a work’s RAIC certification by looking up its unique OSST ID in the RAIC database at raic.info.
What is LACS?
LACS stands for the LACS Asset Classification Standard. It’s a simple, self-declared system for classifying digital assets as Human-Made (LACS-H), AI-Assisted (LACS-A), or AI-Generated (LACS-G).
How does LACS work?
Asset creators add a LACS tag to their assets to indicate the level of human and AI involvement in their creation. This helps consumers understand the origin of the assets they use in their own projects.
Where can I learn more about LACS?
You can find more information about LACS on the LACS Label website.
What is the Indie Craft Initiative?
The Indie Craft Initiative is a program launched by the Lumi Foundation to support independent game developers who prioritize human artistry and craftsmanship in their work. The initiative promotes the use of the RAIC standard, particularly Class A certification, to highlight games created primarily through human effort.
How does the Indie Craft Initiative support indie developers?
The Indie Craft Initiative provides resources, advocacy, and a platform for indie developers to showcase their human-crafted games. The initiative also aims to educate consumers about the value of human creativity in game development.
How can I participate in the Indie Craft Initiative?
If you’re an indie game developer, you can participate by learning more about the RAIC standard and considering Class A certification for your game. You can also connect with the Lumi Foundation to explore other ways to get involved.
